Vertical blinds

Vertical blinds are available in a huge range of colour options, including plain, textured, patterned and blackout fabrics. Many fabrics are also available as Roller Blinds. This makes it possible to mix and match different blinds in the same room in the same fabric, for example in a kitchen/diner you can have Vertical blinds at your French Doors and a Roller Blind at your kitchen window.

All fabrics are available in a louvre width of 89mm. Certain fabrics are also available in a width of 127mm. They are operated with either a Wand control or Chord/Chain control.

Why choose us?

There are a bewildering number of companies selling made to measure blinds online. Many offer a mail order, DIY approach to purchasing your Vertical blinds. This can be useful if you’re taking a more ‘hands-on’ approach and are happy to do all the measuring, ordering and fitting yourself.

However, ordering online can be a tricky process:

  • Have you made the correct measurements?
  • Do the colours you see on your computer screen match the actual colour of the blinds you’ve just ordered?
  • Have you ordered the right type of Vertical blinds for your particular style of window?
  • Have you chosen the best colour and fabric for your room?
  • What happens if you make a mistake – Can you return them for a refund? (you usually can’t).

By choosing us, you can sit back and relax without the hassle and stress of making sure you’ve done everything correctly. We’ll come to visit you with a huge range of patterns, fabrics and options to choose from so that you can see what the finished product will look like, right in the comfort of your own home or business.

About Vertical Blinds – What are they?

Blackout backing ensures no light can pass through the fabric

Vertical blinds offer a great solution for your windows if you want both privacy and light control, as you can angle the louvres to allow daylight into your room whilst maintaining most of your privacy. It is possible to rotate the louvres by 180 degrees.

Control & Draw Options

There are two control options for Louvre blinds:

  1. Wand control – draws the louvres across the window and also rotates them. This is a child safety option. However, it is not recommended for a split draw, as the wand sits in the middle of the blind itself.
  2. Cord/chain – the cord traverses the louvres across the window, whilst the chain rotates them. A cord tidy will be fitted with this option for child safety.

Most fabrics are polyester, but some fabrics are mixed, for example, pvc/glass fibre or polyester/polypropylene.
Vertical Blinds come in 3 different draw options, as chosen at the time of order:

  1. Left-hand draw
  2. Right hand draw
  3. Split draw (where the louvres pull evenly to both sides of the window)

Standard louvres permit privacy whilst allowing a soft diffused light into the room.

Some fabrics are available with a sun-reflective backing, which deflects sunlight back to the window, keeping the room cool in the summer.

A blackout backing will ensure no light passes through the fabric itself. N.B. light will filter through where the louvres overlap; light will also appear around the edges.

Vertical Blinds are suitable for most rooms in the house, including the bedroom

Headrails are supplied with a slim line track, but a wide-bodied version is also available. Curved headrails are also available for bay windows. The standard colour option is white. A choice of brown, platinum or black headrails are also possible.

What rooms are best suited to Vertical Blinds?

Vertical Blinds are suitable for most rooms in the house, which is why these blinds are so versatile. Gone are the days when Vertical Blinds were used mainly in an office or commercial setting. There is now such a wide choice of fabrics, textures and patterns that these Blinds are now seen in many of the latest design magazines. They are perfectly suited in today’s modern contemporary settings.

They are a great solution for many window styles including curved bays, square bays and patio, French and bi-fold doors.
