COVID 19 Update - Introducing changes to the way we work

We're open for business as usual and are following Government guidelines for the safety of customers and our staff. Below are a few important changes to how we're currently operating:

  • We're adhering to the 2-metre social distancing rule.
  • Our staff now carry gloves, masks and hand sanitiser.
  • Where possible, our preference is to be left to work in the room alone where the blinds are being fitted
  • We'd appreciate it if you could clear the area where we'll be working by removing any furniture/ornaments etc. This helps us avoid touching anything unnecessarily.
  • We'll call you on the day of your appointment to confirm that you and your household are free of any symptoms.
  • We'll only attend an appointment if we are free of any symptoms.
  • Unfortunately, it's currently not possible for you to look through our sample books. Instead, we'll hold relevant samples up for you to see.
  • We'll wipe down any surfaces that we've come into contact with and take all packaging away with us when the work is completed.
  • If you or a member of your household is 'shielding', we won't be able to come to your house. This is for your own safety until the Government lifts this restriction. We are, however, able to give you a quote over the phone if you're able to give us accurate measurements.

Best wishes and stay safe everyone! – All at Blindingly Obvious

Ice skating Sidcup

Ice Skating at Ruxley, Sidcup - Get Your Skates On For Christmas 2019!

Ruxley Manor always gets a mention from us as the festive season approaches. Why? Because, rather than repotting your perennials, you can go ice skating right now instead (from 18th October 2019 to 6th January 2020).

The festive season is a quieter time for us at Blindingly Obvious so, with a little way to go, and before we put our feet up by the fire and crack open the Christmas sherry, we thought we'd take a minute to let you know what's going on at Ruxley this holiday season 2019.

If they've let you off early from work so that you can spend time at home with the family, our top tip for places to visit over the Christmas period is Ruxley Manor Garden Centre. Only a stone's throw from Dartford, Ruxley Manor always has plenty going on during the months of November and December.

Ice Skating in Sidcup

Admittedly, a garden centre isn't the most likely location for an ice skating rink, but yes, Ruxley does indeed have one this Christmas (and has done for the past few years) so if you're local to the Dartford, Sidcup or Bexley area, you won't have far to travel. The ice rink is a good size and is also covered so there's no danger of getting cold and wet if the weather takes a turn for the worse. You can quite literally 'get your skates on' anytime from now right up until the 6th January 2019 (Excludes Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day). Prices start from £3 for toddlers and go up to £5 for those over the age of 3 - Sessions last for 45 minutes and if you don't have your own skates, you can hire them at the venue as well. There are Peak and Off-Peak rates, so make sure you visit their 2019 Ice Rink Sessions page for more information.

If you'd like to get an idea of the size of the rink, check out the time-lapse video below of the ice rink being constructed during a previous year.

Santa's Grotto in Sidcup

Another star attraction at the venue is Santa's Grotto. This is always popular with the kids and it tends to sell out fast so visit their events page quickly to check availability.

Other things to do

During the summer months, Ruxley is a hive of activity for green-fingered visitors and although the place is still full of plants and accessories it's also worth a visit if you're looking for gifts ideas for friends and family. From food to clothing, the venue has lots to offer and you can also pick up Christmas trees and decorations as well.

So, what are you waiting for? - Get your skates on and get down there!
