Excellent service, had the whole house in vertical blinds, we both couldn’t be more happy. Lee was on time, cleaned up after work and at a great price for a quality product. Again thank you really pleased.

Geeky Crayford Facts

There were only really two main Manor Houses in the area during the Middle Ages; one being Newbery Manor (now the site of Crayford Manor House), and the other being Howbury Manor, near to Slade Green.

Roger Apylton had served both King Henry V and Henry VI as an auditor and he lived at Marshalls Court in Crayford. Late in the reign of Elizabeth I Henry Partich sold Newbery Manor to Henry Apylton of Marshalls Court, and Apylton built May Place close by. Hall Place, which is just down the road from Crayford (next to the River Cray), was built for Lord Mayor of the City of London Sir John Champneis around 1537.

There was also an iron mill, which was later replaced by a sawmill in 1765. This mill produced the timber for the floor of Buckingham Palace. Earlier in 1551, Francis Goldsmith bought a ‘Great tenement called The Place’ next to the bridge in Crayford, and between 1556 and 1586 purchased substantial amounts of local farmland and the Old Bell Public House along with it.
